Don’t Rout
The grand vision for this project is a rich tactical fantasy RTS game that captures the unique challenges facing an on-the-ground field commander and the push and pull between beating the enemy and wrangling your own unruly troops. More about the project here: https://dthasno.website/inspirations/
This is the completed music for Don't Rout. The biggest influences were the music of "Total War" and "Mount and Blade". The most important element for me as a composer was to create not only the feelings of the gameplay experiences like rest, waiting, and combat, but to make tracks that capture the mood of the soldiers fighting. There have to be tracks that accompany good, neutral, and bad morale for all of the different gameplay states. The video above showcases 2 of the completed tracks and my very poor attempt to complete one of the initial missions!
